Celltex Celebrates Jackie Sherrill’s Induction into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame
The Alabama Sports Hall of Fame held their 55th annual induction banquet this past weekend. On the list of eight honorees was President of Celltex Sports Biologics Jackie Sherrill, who has been recognized for his achievements as both a collegiate coach and player.
Houston-based biotechnology company Celltex Therapeutics Corporation is proud to announce Jackie Sherrill, President of Celltex Sports Biologics, and legendary collegiate football coach has been inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.
Sherrill’s induction stems from numerous accolades gained across his 37-year coaching career, most notably as the head football coach at Washington State University, University of Pittsburgh, Texas A&M University and Mississippi State University.
Sherrill began working with Celltex after stem cell therapy helped him avoid a double knee replacement in 2014. He has since dedicated his post-football career to helping improve other athletes’ quality of life by advancing awareness for stem cell therapy and research.
Sherrill has seen both the short and long-term consequences that sports-related injuries can have on players. With his efforts in advancing cellular therapies, he hopes to limit these consequences for athletes everywhere.
“Stem cell therapy significantly reduced the pain I was living with daily, and I am dedicated to making these therapies more accessible to anyone else living with pain,” said Sherrill.
“We’re honored to be working with him,” said Celltex CEO David G. Eller. “Coach Sherrill has brought the same passion and dedication he had on the field into his work with Celltex and the development of our Sports Program. His own experiences have shown us how beneficial having access to one’s own stem cells can be both on and off the field.”
Sherrill’s induction into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame comes just three years after his induction to the Pitt Athletics Hall of Fame in 2020 and seven years after his induction to the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame. Through his work with Celltex, he hopes to continue bringing awareness to the safety and efficacy of adult mesenchymal stem cell therapy within professional and collegiate sports.
In addition to his day-to-day work at Celltex, Sherrill frequently finds time to speak on Celltex-hosted webinars.
