I heard about various stem cell therapies, so I did some online research about regenerative medicine where I discovered Celltex Therapeutics, a Houston-based biotechnology company specializing in adult mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) banking. After looking into Celltex I realized I knew the CEO, David Eller, through previous connections at our alma mater, Texas A&M University. I reached out to David and talked to Paul on the Client Service team about my individual needs and options. In discussing my condition with friends, I came across two business acquaintances who both had positive experiences with Celltex. After getting feedback from them, I met with Dr. Stanley Jones, Celltex’s Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer, at his practice. Once I had met with Dr. Jones and discussed MSC banking and therapy in more detail, I decided to give Celltex a try.
Since I live in the Austin area, Celltex connected me with a local doctor to extract my own MSCS from my adipose (fat) tissue. It was relatively painless and the extracted tissue was sent to Celltex’s Houston-based laboratory, which is registered with the FDA as an HCT/P facility. At the Celltex lab, my MSCs were isolated, grown and cryopreserved. In November 2018, I flew to Cancun to receive my first round of therapy at Hospital Galenia. I received three IV infusions and two injections directly into my lymph nodes.
The staff members at Hospital Galenia were attentive and friendly, and the hospital was very clean and well organized. I actually ended up traveling with my wife and made a vacation out of it, enjoying the sun and beaches in Cancun.
Within a couple weeks, I was feeling so much better and gradually got off the prescription medications. After two months, I was feeling a lot better and was basically symptom-free. Six months post-therapy, I began to feel like I needed a booster. I returned to Cancun and received an additional round of IV therapy and two direct injections in my ankle. My ankle and joints were the most painful, but the pain progressively decreased and within one week, I was symptom-free.
My goal is to space my therapy appointments out 10-12 months and remain prescription drug-free, which is attainable with Celltex. It has been an excellent experience.
Before therapy, I was using prescription regimes that barely allowed me to function. I still had to grab something to help myself up and I was still in a fair amount of pain during simple activities. Today, I am off of the drugs, I ski, shoot bows, workout with weights and power walk. At 69 years old, I am more active than most of my peers! Celltex really did give me my life back.
Thank you,
Rick Kennedy
