Celltex Therapeutics is hosting a webinar to share how mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can help limit the damage caused by Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), an injury that is linked to the development of Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other neurological conditions over time.
At least 2.8 million people sustain a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in the United States each year. With those injuries comes the destruction of brain cells and the potential development of serious physical, cognitive, and emotional disorders. For this webinar, Celltex is focusing on how damage caused by TBI can be minimized.
There are several scenarios in which TBI can occur. Automobile accidents, falls, assault, and sports injuries are some of the most common causes, showing how these injuries can affect a wide variety of people.
Former athletes, particularly those involved in contact sports, are a significant group impacted by the long-term effects of TBI. Following their playing careers, these athletes may have an increased risk of developing anxiety, depression, dementia, Alzheimer’s, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).
With the help of Coach Jackie Sherrill, our guest for this webinar, Celltex has helped improve quality of life for numerous retired athletes. Sherrill serves as the director of the Celltex Sports Program and works to manage sports studies with athletes and medical professionals to make advancements in sports medicine.
Coach Sherill’s work with Celltex is motivated by his 37 years of experience as a collegiate football coach. He has seen both the short and long-term consequences that sports-related head injuries can have on players. With his efforts in advancing cellular therapies, he hopes to limit these consequences for athletes everywhere.
Join this webinar to hear how Celltex’s technology can make a difference in the damaging effects of TBI. Coach Sherrill will also share the results that retired Dallas Cowboys linebacker Lee Roy Jordan experienced, one of the many athletes Celltex has worked with. Following 14 years of dominant tackling in the NFL, the Super Bowl Champion and 5x Pro Bowler came to Celltex for help with his dementia.
*SPECIAL GUEST*
We’ll be joined by Jackie Sherrill, Director of the Celltex Sports Program and former collegiate football coach.
There is no cost to join this webinar. Participants that join the live discussion will have the opportunity to submit questions to be answered by our panel, and registrants will get access to view the recording on-demand.
