February is American Heart Month, and Celltex Therapeutics is hosting a webinar to promote tools anyone can use to maintain a healthy heart.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, with one in every four deaths attributed to cardiac issues. About 805,000 people die of heart attacks in the US every year, with 200,000 occurring in people who had previously experienced a heart attack.

Traditional cardiac care often involves risky invasive procedures and a dependency on pharmaceuticals. Current care following a heart attack focuses on stabilizing the patient, but long-term consequences of poor tissue healing and subsequent impaired heart function significantly decreases future quality of life.

Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs), the body’s natural healing cells, have been shown to aid in maintaining heart health and providing marked improvements in heart attack recovery when used quickly following a heart attack.

MSCs can emit a secretome that assists the body in recovery following a heart attack by decreasing the inflammatory cytokine response as well as creating new blood vessels, limiting scar tissue, and triggering other regenerative cells near the damaged area to mature and begin to function.
