After a lifetime of playing sports and coaching collegiate football, the years had taken a toll on my body, particularly my knees and shoulders. In 2000, I had surgery on my right knee for a medial collateral ligament (MCL) and in 1992, I had surgery to repair the rotator cuff on my right shoulder. Both surgeries required a long recovery process.
Not long after those surgeries, I was faced with double knee replacement and another rotator cuff repair, this time in my left shoulder. I wanted to look at other options before going down the route to surgery and more rehabilitation.
I had been hearing about Celltex Therapeutics Corporation, a Houston-based biotechnology company and their success in regenerative medicine through the use of adipose-derived adult mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). A family member of one of Celltex’s clients told me about her aunt’s improvements after receiving hundreds of millions of her own adult stem cells to help with back problems. She experienced a lot of other benefits as well, including noticed improvement in her energy level and overall quality of life.
I learned that the man behind Celltex was CEO David Eller, who was Chairman of the Board of Texas A&M University System at the time I was head coach of the Aggie football team. After visiting the Celltex lab and talking to David, I decided this was the safest and least invasive option available to me. Rather than undergo more expensive surgeries and lengthy recoveries on my knees and shoulders, I decided to give adult stem cell therapy a try.
Since June 2014, I have traveled twice to Cancun to receive stem cell therapy through Celltex. The first time I had stem cell therapy, I received 100 million of my own adult stem cells through direct injections in both knees, as well as 150 million of my own adult stem cells through an IV.
The second time I had therapy, I had a direct injection of 100 million of my own stem cells in my left shoulder rotator cuff, and 150 million of my own adult stem cells through an IV. The therapy was administered by a licensed physician at Hospital Galenia in Cancun. I was absolutely impressed with the professionalism of the hospital and medical staff there.
Because of my experience with the previous operations and the lengthy rehab that followed, I noticed the changes after stem cell therapy right away. The improvements continued over several months and I can honestly say that Celltex adult stem cell therapy changed my life. Not only did it significantly reduce the pain I was living with on a daily basis, I now have complete range of motion in my left shoulder and arm.
Because of my own firsthand experience, I am a believer in adult stem cell therapy. I am determined to find ways to collaborate with Celltex to make these therapies more accessible to athletes.
I strongly believe that Celltex stem cell therapy has the power to improve the quality of life of athletes who are living with pain and issues related to the neck, back, spine, and even those who have varying levels of dementia, resulting from suffering multiple concussions. I stand with Celltex in its mission to bring this therapy to people all over the United States and around the world.
Thank you Celltex, Hospital Galenia, my doctors and all of the staff who have been involved with my adult stem cell treatment. I believe in what you are doing, and I look forward to seeing you accomplish your mission in improving quality of life for so many individuals around the world.
Thank you,
Jackie Sherrill
